Moving forward with each day is going to be hard knowing that I won't be able to see you or hear your voice, but I thank God for the days I did have with you, for they will get me through. I thank God that you emphasized his presence and his name. I thank God that you always spoke of a better place on the other side of our worldly body. I thank God that you taught us all the word and how important it is to be right with the Lord so that when our time comes, just as yours did, we can be at peace and rest in the assurance that we are going to rest with the Holy Master. I thank God, Grandma, quite simply for you.Your unwavering love for God and your family, matched with an unprecedented amount of strength kept you with us. As a 20 year breast cancer survivor and diabetic, you never showed fear or worry, but assured us that God has the final word. And as your body began to decline you provided us with that same assurance. Letting us know that all is well with you and the Lord, and that we too should make sure that our relationship with God is one in which would bring us together again.
I just lift God's name in praise because I know you held on as long as you could not for yourself, because you were ready to go, but for us, because we just weren't quite ready. And even though we were not ready, and probably would never be, you gave us enough time to get ourselves prepared, and I love you for that and so much more.
So I thank you Grandma for giving me my smile because every time I do, I'll be reminded of you. I thank you Grandma for my dimples, every time they show I know I'm being kissed by you. I thank you Grandma for my wit, every time I make someone laugh I'll be reminded of the laughs we shared. I thank you Grandma for my strength because if I can maintain an ounce of your strength I'll be able to move forward knowing that you have not left me, but instead, you have moved to be with me all the time. I thank you Grandma for giving me Jesus, because I know I'll be with you again. And I thank you most of all for loving me, for I know what true, unconditional love is. I love you Grandma.
