Would you date someone your family didn't approve of?

So I'm sitting here watching some foolishness on MTV about some family in Louisiana. Nonetheless, the daughter just had a "conversation" with her mom about a boy she's was dating, and is back to dating, that her mom does not approve of. wooo.....okay, that was a lot, but basically it reminded me of a conversation I just recently had with three of my cousins. So how's this for a question? Would you date someone, or even attempt to build a relationship with someone your family did not approve of?

For me that's a complicated question to answer. Knowing my family, if they came to me and told me they didn't like a guy I was seeing, I would have to take notice. For my family to directly let me know they didn't approve of a guy means he must be really bad for me, because we would much rather make comments about it in the privacy of our homes or with our sisters. Whether or not I'd actually break up with him?????? Probably lol..... My family and I are super close, so it would be difficult to be in a relationship with anyone they didn't like. We could never attend family functions, which in my family happens weekly. I think it would just be way too difficult to start a relationship with anyone they openly disliked. On the other hand, if I truly *clears throat* loved someone, and later found out my family didn't like him,......well then all bets are off.
